Framed artwork

Here is a pic of the rat pile picture after i'd framed it. It's mounted in a 14" x 11" frame as that was all I could find locally, but I think it looked ok. The recipient got it today and was really pleased with it, so that was good. Excuse my reflection in it, i've still not worked out how to take decent photos of framed drawings.

Rat picture finished

Here is the final scan of the picture I have drawn for the rat craft swap. It is going to be mounted and framed in a 12" x 16" frame, with a title cut into the bottom mount. It is in coloured pencil.

Rat craft swap

I'm working at the moment on a piece of artwork for a rat-themed craft swap, which has been organised through the rat forum i'm a member of. It's meant to be a secret, but I can't imagine anyone from the forum looking here. I'm calling it "rat pile" and it's going to be in coloured pencil and is a drawing of seven rats all snuggled up together. Each one is going to be a different colour. It's not really on pink paper, I had to lighten it up to show the lines and the colour's gone a bit odd. Anyway - here it is:

New Pet resident

The rattie numbers in our house grew by one today. There has been a male rat at work since January and he's spent the last month alone after his companion was sold, i've been looking at him every day and feeling so sorry for him, but knowing that I couldn't have him due to having only girls at home. But yesterday my boss turned round and said if I knew anyone that wanted him I could take him, so I told him about the rat forum and the re-homing board on there and he was happy for me to take him home and re-home him, so I bought him home today and named him Spike.

He's only meant to be a temporary resident, but Steve seems to have fallen in love already. I've told him if we keep him he has to have a friend and a therefore a larger cage, but who knows!

Pet Rat Photos

Well, as promised here are some photographs of my two new rats. They met Treacle and Charlotte today. I used the Bathroom as neutral territory and they got on ok. There was lots of bum sniffing and forced grooming accompanied by a few little squeaks from the babies, but that's all very normal, and I'm really pleased as there was no blood or fighting. Tommorrow I will put them together in the bathroom again, and if they're ok like they were today I shall move them into Treacle and Charlotte's play pen and see how they get on when the territory's not neutral.

Here are the pictures: This is Doughnut. She's a Cinnamon hooded and seems to be the quieter of the two, though she's still very friendly

This is Tinkerbell. She's a Mink Roan and as she gets older will lose her grey colouring and probably go completely white. She is the more adventurous of the two. Today in the bathroom she was off with Treacle exploring.
